digital story reflection

our assignment was to make a movie mostly about something that happened to you or something you have achieved. i told a story of the time i went to the hospital while our family game of kickball. the rules of this project were to gather up pictures, describing your event and put it mostly into a slide show/movie. we had to put our pictures into a movie while telling our story, we could also add music to our movie to make the mood the way we wanted the viewers to feel. we couldn't use any offensive language and no offensive music, we also couldn't do any thing stupid our inappropriate.
   my digital story takes place in the summer about 3 weeks after school ended. me my sisters and cousins decided to play kick ball in are parking lot. we all agreed on teams and we decided that the little kids got to kick before all the older kids since we didn't have enough strength. i went first on my team because i was younger than most of the people in our team, so as i kick the ball flew in the air and i started running like there was no tomorrow, i felt the wind in my hair and then splat i got struck with the ball making me fall on my face causing my nose to bleed non-stop. feeling the copper taste in my mouth got me scared and i knew i was bleeding so we went inside and washed up but my nose needed surgery to stop the bleeding.
   i used these specific images because i felt it fit in whit what i was trying to explain. i also felt that the images could add a specific mood to it so the viewer could see or imagine the experience i had that day off a game of kick ball.
   i chose this story because, this was my first dramatic experience to the emergency room, and i felt that this will be a memory i will always keep because that was a time i seen my sister do her job and take care of me when my parents or an adult wasn't around. this story means allot to me because i seen how my family actually cared about me and how they stop the whole game to see if i was ok, to see if i needed help to get up. this story is significant to me because i seen the bond my family had and when one of us falls we all help out to pick them up and get them back on their feet to go forward.
   i believe i did an excellent job, because i used my pictures to describe my story butt also used them in a order and timed it to stick with the audio to describe my dramatic story. imovie was a different experience because i got to mix in audio, pictures, and effects to make a nice story or a nice slide show. i also like imovie because it lets you experience something new, something you really haven't had practice with. most of the project was easy because it was just showing a file of pics in a order that lets the viewer feel and see what one wants to describe, but one of the challenges was to record your voice because its hard to fit it in with your movie, and adding some effects could be an obstacle if your clips are to short.
something imovie showed me was that its easy for anyone to use this program if you spend time on it and try not to rush with your project, it also showed me a few steps into the music industry and also with making a video incase i want to send it to someone or just for fun. this project also showed me that with a little creativity one can achieve his own first movie or short clip. this could help me out in the future because i could record some nice music videos, or videos to upload them into the internet to probably get famous one day.

triptych and reflection

  on this second projected i had to create me a triptych. a triptych is a mixture of 3 or more images that represent a certain topic, for example music, movies or what ever someone wants to express in their own words, and thats what i did. i did a triptych on music. the first step in making my music triptych was to find a song i liked best. then i had to find some images on the web that fit best with the lyrics of the song, for example if the song talked about american troopers i would have to find a good picture of our american troops. then we had to mix in different layers and blend in different colors to represent the mood of our song or the theme we wanted the viewers to get when they saw the pictures.
   i see my second project as a success because i can see i did a better job of blending in the colors of my different pictures and did a better job representing the mood and theme the song try to give its listeners. i can also see that my triptych has many more blending options than my first photoshop project. for my triptych song i choose forever young by jay z because i think that song is a good way to tell the older generation never to forget they were once young and never to forget their good times and to let the newer generation know never to stop being young and always keep that young kid in them trough out their life time.  the ending of my project feels like a success because its something a young teenager would be interested in because it deals with their time and the images used, may catch their attention because it has bright colors but then has a ghostly glow. the tolls i used in this photoshop project where the magic wand, the magnetic lasso and the rectangular marque tool. i also used a inner shadow and a outer glow on my triptychs. i used a filter to make the rewind pop out but also let the second layer be seen. i adjusted the opacity on mostly all the triptychs to make it seem like a time from the past or like a thought.
   for my pictures i used pictures with a twist first i looked for a peaceful and happy picture and then a picture with a bit of abandonment and sad mood. i used this two moods because i felt that his song talked about losing your sense of happiness or just being dad without the young, fun, party, other half of you when you were a little youngster. i try to put a mood or a feeling by making it half and half. one half happiness and joy and the other sadness or disaster. for example his lyrics say "heaven can wait were only watching the skies, hoping for the best but expecting the worse are yo gonna drop the bomb or not..." their i blended a picture of the sea and the skies with two young kids playing in the sand then a nuke going off killing everyone for not being ready for reality. or the time he says " cuz there is no tomorrow  just a picture perfect day to last a whole life time and it never ends cuz all we have to do is hit rewind. for this section i used a nice sunset and then a abandoned city and inserted a rewind button.
  lastly i feel this year is gonna be a little difficult because of the fact that i am not as experienced in photoshop then many others who already tried it before, but i can say that my experience with photoshop has been a blast and i expect to keep doing it even when i am no longer in school, i enjoy working with it and hope that i can keep doing it. photoshop has made me see that anyone is capable of working with it and i like this because it relaxes me and helps me like a distraction from events in the past and i feel that i did a good job every time i hand in a project because time and concentration goes into it and i know thats one of the keys to being successful : ) thank you and i hope you like my triptych.

reflection

when this all started i thought that i would never be able to finish such a big project, i thought that photo shopping was something only a nerd knew how to do but i leaned that it can be used for many things and i use this tool to create my cool looking magazine. i like this project because it let me experience something new, and i learned something i didn't know most computers had. my projected could have been better if i had a little more time because i knew it needed more details but im glad how it turned out, i hope use like it i know i do : )

well... my name as you can see is gerson hernandez, i am 15 years old and live in providence r.i. i live with my my mom n pops and 2 sisters, i am the only boy : ( but i get to work with my dad most of the times, mostly on his cars, so i have become a grease monkey. even though i work i also have fun, i chill with my friends n with my family, they call me the goofball because i am always making them laugh with my goofiness. i am chill when you get to know me n funny if you want me to be i will always be there if something goes wrong or if you just want to talk, ill have your back if you got mine, and cheer you up when your done because... well thats just me.
